Learn more about hose clamps
What is a hose clamp?
A hose clamp is a simple device used to attach hoses to fittings or pumps. Most hose clamps consist of a metal or plastic strip with a screw or locking device used to tighten the clamp around the hose and secure it in place.
What types of hose clamps are there?
There are many different types of hose clamps, including T-bolt clamps, spring clamps and hose clamps with ears. The choice of hose clamp depends on the type of hose or fitting you are using, as well as the type of pressure or load the system is subjected to.
How do I choose the right hose clamp for my system?
To choose the right hose clamp for your system, you should first determine the type of hose and coupling you are using, as well as the pressure and load to which the system is subjected. Then choose a hose clamp that is designed for the type of hose and coupling you have.
How do I install a hose clamp?
To install a hose clamp, place the clamp around the hose and make sure the clamp is in the correct position over the coupling. Then tighten the screw or locking device until the clamp is securely in place. Be careful not to over tighten the clamp as this can damage the hose.
Hose clamps for a wide range of applications
Hose clamps come in an incredible number of varieties and are usually a metal band with a punched or pressed screw slot, and a fixed screw used to tighten the band. To ensure closure and tightness of the hose and coupling, different hose clamps are available depending on the application. Hose clamps are a fastening device used to attach a hose to a nipple, a hose base, a pipe or metal-to-metal connections.
Hose clamps are sized to fit over the outer diameter of the hose and are categorized by the smallest and largest hose diameter they fit. The hose clamp is described with a clamping range between ØX-X mm.
Hose clamps of different types
We have hose clamps suitable for extremely harsh environments where reliability must be total. When choosing a hose clamp, it is important to consider the material and area of application. Low or high pressure in the hose, and the location of the hose clamp.
A steel worm gear hose clamp is a relatively cheap type because of the material. The hose clamp is therefore preferably placed permanently on the hose to avoid wear of the threads and weakening of the steel.
Stainless steel worm gear hose clamps have a longer lifetime and can be assembled and disassembled several times without wearing out the metal.
Hose clamp with quick lock is a hose clamp with a stainless steel band and a galvanized steel lock. It is used where it may be difficult to split the hose/pipe or where space is limited.
The Oetiker hose clamp is suitable for soft and sensitive hose materials and provides a gentle and absolutely secure connection.
Hose clamp with one hexagonal screw or with two hexagonal screws is often used in transportation and building construction and offers a great possibility of assembly after the installation is in place.
Hose clamps of different materials
Our hose clamps are made of different materials depending on the model. We stock hose clamps of galvanized steel, stainless steel, Swedish carbon steel SS 1265, acid-proof steel SIS 2343, chromated steel, galvanized steel or stainless steel 2333.Hose clamps of galvanized steel should not be used with corrosive materials such as chemicals and fertilizers. Corrosion on any part of the clamp will weaken the metal and reduce its strength. Therefore, always replace corroded clamps.
